For China’s foreign trade enterprises, the challenges facing foreign trade exports this year are unprecedented. Many companies have taken the initiative to reduce their reliance on orders in the U.S. market, and have their eyes on a wider area to diversify market risks. At the same time, under the background of the signing of the free trade agreement between China and Australia, the fifth tax reduction has been completed in early 2019, and China has enjoyed zero tariff treatment on Australian textile and apparel exports. The stable and mutually beneficial economic and trade relations, the reduction of tariffs and the increase in trade convenience have made the Australian market with its unique advantages attracting more and more Chinese textile export companies to find development space.

As the most influential textile and apparel procurement exhibition in Australia, the 19th China Clothing Textile Accessories Expo 2019, sponsored by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textile and Apparel and the Department of Commerce of Jiangsu Province, was held in Melbourne on November 12 - 14. The exhibition is divided into several exhibition areas of clothing, home textiles and fabrics, shoes and bags, personal and underwear, clothing accessories, and a Xiamen exhibition area has been set up. This exhibition has a total of 501 booths, and the scale of the exhibition has reached a record high.

At this year’s exhibition, the reporter learned in the interview that many exhibitors brought professional and high-quality market segmentation products, showing the results of independent research and development and foreign trade transformation and upgrading of enterprises. They hope to fully demonstrate the company’s quality control capabilities and flexible market adaptability, and integrate with the Australian market.

According to China’s customs statistics, in 2018, China’s textile and apparel exports to Australia were 5.316 billion U.S. dollars, and China’s exports to the world’s foreign trade generally fell under pressure and achieved a growth of 6.05%.

In 2018, Australia ranked 11th in China’s single export market to the world, and is China’s main textile and apparel export market.

Australia’s textiles and clothing rely on imports, and China is the largest source of imports. According to GTA data, in 2018, China accounted for 60.48% of the Australian textile and apparel market share, and Bangladesh ranked second with a market share of 7.06%. This is due to the complete supply chain system of China’s textile industry and the ability to respond flexibly and quickly to the market.
