Survey on Guangdong textile enterprises: CCTA

May 17, 2021  |  by Zhao Xinhua

Recently, the research group of China Cotton Textile Association (CCTA) went to Foshan, Guangzhou and other regions of Guangdong Province to investigate and visit yarn traders, denim apparel clusters, downstream weaving enterprises and other links of the industrial chain, and had a discussion and exchange on the status quo of enterprise operation and enterprise demands.
The price of raw materials is unstable, which affects the business confidence of enterprises

Recently, the terminal brand orders pressure, combined with the upcoming traditional off-season in July and August, textile enterprises have concerns about the second quarter. It is hoped that the country should pay more attention not only to the emerging industries, but also to the cotton textile industry. It is suggested that relevant departments take timely measures to stabilize the price of raw materials and boost market confidence.

The spinning enterprises visited by the research group all expressed that they would support the brand building and industrial development of Chinese cotton, but there is still room for improvement in the quality of cotton at present, and they hope that China’s cotton industry can become a strong support for China’s textile industry.

Employment issues

In the long run, the issue of employment remains the biggest concern of the enterprises visited. Under the situation of unbalanced population structure, the country will face the dilemma of not being able to recruit workshop production personnel in the future. In recent years, most young people are reluctant to go to the textile mills. The average age is increasing year by year, and now it is about 40 years old.

Strive to build a corporate brand

The enterprises visited are mainly OEM manufacturers, but they all have a strong awareness of brand building, saying that the lack of independent brands will affect the power of discourse in the industry. While OEM manufacturers, these enterprises also constantly try to launch brand clothes designed by themselves.

Clusters take multiple measures to enhance industrial competitiveness

In recent years, the government in the cluster region has given strong support to the development of the textile and apparel industry, and taken a variety of measures to guide the industrial upgrading; planned the construction of industrial parks, established a centralized sewage treatment system, and adhered to green and sustainable development; established professional markets, released social responsibility report, and constantly improved the business environment; supported the innovation of online sales models, encouraged the creation of independent brands, etc. Under the COVID-19, relevant government departments arranged the vaccination of enterprise employees in an orderly manner, and contributed a positive force to the stabilization of the industry.

In terms of the market, the orders of the export-oriented cluster decreased due to the influence of the overseas pandemic situation and the Xinjiang cotton boycott. Since the second half of last year, the domestic-oriented cluster has continued to recover and remain basically stable. Facing the new opportunities of the domestic circulation, the enterprises visited are full of confidence in the domestic market and will start to promote the high-quality development of the denim industry from the aspects of design, research and development, sales and brand.
