Marcelo Duarte, director of International Relations of ABRAPA, made a forecast of Brazil’s cotton acreage and production in 2020/2021 at the inaugural Cotton Outlook Conference in Brazil. He said cotton missed the best planting time because of delays in soybean planting and harvesting. At present, the cotton planting in Brazil is basically completed. According to the current planting area data and the recent rainfall expectation, etc., it is estimated that the cotton planting area in 2020/2021 will decrease by 16 percent year-on-year to 1.399 million hectares, and the total output is expected to decrease by 17 percent year-on-year to 2.491 million tons.
