Sunan County is the main production area of Gansu alpine fine-wool sheep, a key county for the construction of the national villi system, and an important livestock commodity base in Gansu Province. It is China’s “Gansu alpine fine wool sheep” production base county. The cultivated Gansu alpine fine-wool sheep each have an average wool production of 3.93 kg, and the fine wool output of Sunan County has reached more than 2,000 tons. The fine-wool sheep has become a pillar industry for herders to increase their income.

Sunan County gave full play to the two natural advantages of “Plateau” and “Green”, insisted on market-oriented, industrialized as a means, standardization as a direction, and science and technology as a support, focused on building a “green animal husbandry county”, and formulated “Gansu Alpine Fine Wool Standard System”, “Semino” and “Nine Pai Pine” were recognized as “Famous Trademarks of Gansu Province”.
