Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs released the announcement of the first batch of agricultural product geographical indication registration products in 2020. Mianyang “Fucheng Silkworm Cocoon” won the National Agricultural Product Geographical Indication Registration Certificate. This is the second agricultural product geographical indication registration product successfully declared in Fucheng District, Mianyang, following the “Fucheng Asparagus” in September 2019.

“Fucheng Silkworm Cocoon” has white color and uniform shape. The unique quality makes the “Fucheng Silkworm Cocoon” reeled super 6A grade raw silk exported to Europe, which is the top raw material for stable luxury goods.

 

The geographical protection scope of agricultural products of “Fucheng Silkworm Cocoon” covers 76 administrative villages in 4 towns, among which, the protected mulberry plantation area is 4,000 hectares, and the annual output of silkworm cocoons is 8,000 tons.

 

The “Fucheng Silkworm Cocoon” won the National Agricultural Products Geographical Indication Registration Certificate, which will create local unique high-quality agricultural products for Fucheng District, build regional brands, increase the added value of traditional agricultural products, protect intellectual property rights, promote industrial prosperity and increase farmers’ income , and helping to overcome poverty.
