According to data released by Baotou Daily, in 2021, Baotou City will implement 715 major projects with government investment of more than 50 million yuan and enterprise investment of more than 100 million yuan, an increase of 13.7 percent year-on-year; the total investment is 455.4 billion yuan, and the planned investment for the year is 103.8 billion yuan, the total investment increased by 30 percent. As of April 21, 479 of 715 major projects in Baotou City had started and resumed work, completed an investment of 19.6 billion yuan, and the resumption rate was 67 percent.

This year, around the construction of new materials industry base, Baotou City plans to implement 214 key projects such as Guangwei carbon fiber with an investment of 2 billion yuan and COSCO defense ultra-high molecular polyethylene film with an investment of 2.1 billion yuan, with a total investment of 161.54 billion yuan. According to the plan, Baotou strives to form a new material industry cluster of 400 billion yuan by 2025.
