Five years after the Shenzhou-11 mission was launched in 2016, the spacesuit developed by Donghua University’s astronaut clothing research and design team has accompanied astronauts on their journey into space again.

At the press conference on the 16th, three astronauts dressed in handsome uniforms developed by the Donghua University astronaut clothing research and design team appeared at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The Donghua University astronaut clothing research and design team designed a series of special clothing to ensure the entire process of astronauts’ work and life in space and on the ground, including work clothes, exercise clothing, casual clothing, weightless protective clothing, and sleeping clothing for astronauts working and living on the space station. These special clothing must not only ensure the realization of a number of special functions, but also incorporate Chinese characteristic design elements to become the spacesuits for astronauts to appear in the world.

 

The style, color, pattern and texture of the whole series of spacesuits and accessories should not only match each other, but also blend with the spaceship environment, reflecting the cultural elements with Chinese characteristics and the characteristics of the times, but also reflecting the professional characteristics and spiritual outlook of the astronaut community. Different types of clothing have different functions, which can help astronauts fight against the adverse effects of weightlessness on human muscles during a long space flight. Meanwhile, the display effect of photography, video recording and image transmission in the light environment of the space station should also be considered.
